About TickSPY
TickSPY is a free market analysis desk that runs in your browser. It draws the candles, runs fourteen indicators, a volatility model, market news and an economic calendar for any US ticker, and puts one plain-English sentence next to every number. There is no account, no card, and no paywall.
Who runs it
TickSPY is operated by Tickspycorp, based in Québec, Canada. The site is built and maintained by its own team, which also writes the analysis pages, runs the backtests, and answers support mail. You can reach a person at tickspysupport@gmail.com; that address is read by whoever maintains the site, not by a ticket queue.
Tickspycorp is not a broker, dealer, adviser or portfolio manager. It is not registered with any securities regulator, it does not hold client money or securities, and it cannot place a trade for you. It publishes analysis and tools, which is a different activity from advice — see the Risk Disclosure for the full statement.
Why the site exists
Most charting software is good at drawing a number and terrible at telling you what the number means. A visitor sees RSI 74 and either assumes it means "sell" or ignores it entirely, because nothing on the screen distinguishes an observation from a forecast.
TickSPY was built around one rule: every number gets a sentence explaining it, and that sentence has to be honest about what the number cannot do. The indicator score is described as a description of what indicators are doing right now, not a prediction — because when we measured it over five years of five-minute SPY bars, bullish and bearish readings were followed by much the same returns. That result is published rather than buried, because a tool that overstates its own accuracy is worse than no tool.
The section explaining the volatility model states the measured result and the gaps: one ticker, one timeframe, and a second modelling stage that carries no weight in the shipped build. If you only read one page on this site, read Methodology.
What is on the site
- The desk — the working tool, at /desk/. Eleven sections covering charts, indicators, candlestick patterns, volatility, market structure, news, the calendar, alerts, position sizing and data settings.
- Ten guides — one per desk section, each with the actual formula, a worked example, an interactive calculator that runs locally in your browser, and a section headed "What this cannot tell you." Start at the guides index.
- Methodology — how each figure is calculated and what has been tested.
- Legal and privacy — Terms, Privacy, Risk Disclosure, each also available in French.
How it is paid for
The desk is free to use, and every feature is available without paying. The site is funded by optional reader support through Buy Me a Coffee. If display advertising is switched on, the slots are labelled, they sit between sections rather than inside them, and they are never placed next to a button, a form or a call to action — an ad beside a button invites accidental clicks, which is bad for readers and against advertising policy.
We do not sell user data, we do not run a paid tier, and the link to Alpaca in the footer is a plain link to their signup rather than a referral link. If any of that ever changes, it changes on this page first.
What the site deliberately is not
- It is not advice. Nothing here is personalised, and nothing is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything.
- It is not a signal service. It will not tell you what to trade, and it does not claim a win rate.
- It is not a brokerage. It cannot execute anything, and it never asks for your account credentials beyond the read-only market-data keys you may choose to add.
- It is not a data vendor. Prices come from the sources named in Methodology, and you should verify anything important at its original source.
How the site is maintained
Data, layouts and copy are revised on an ongoing basis, and the volatility model's backtest is re-run against fresh bars when the engine changes. Each analysis page carries a review date, and the "What this cannot tell you" section is treated as part of the content rather than a legal afterthought — if a limit is discovered, it is written down on the page that makes the claim.
Corrections. If something on this site is wrong, write to tickspysupport@gmail.com with the page and the claim. Factual errors in an explanation, a formula or a stated result are corrected and the review date is updated. We would rather publish a correction than defend a mistake.
Accessibility and languages
The interface is available in twelve languages (English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Arabic and Hindi), the calculation guides are in English, and the legal pages are in English and French. Interactive elements are reachable by keyboard, form inputs carry labels, and the site respects the operating system's reduced-motion setting.
